ABA
ABA and DIR are two of the most
popular instructional practices used in schools for children with autism. ABA uses the theory that behaviors can be
learned through reinforcements. In this
theory many types of rewards for positive behaviors and consequences for
negative behaviors. In DIR/Floortime,
children direct their own learning. A
child will play with a toy and the teacher will jump in and join. They will incorporate learning strategies
into the play. There is minimal whole
class time. Play and instructional time
